“BARZANO’ & ZANARDO” OFFICIALLY IS AN HISTORIC TRADEMARK!

On January 11th, 2023, the Italian Patent and Trademark Office accepted the application for the registration of our trademark BARZANO’ & ZANARDO in the Register of Historic Marks of National Interest, acknowledging the values, the Italianness and the historicity that distinguish our Firm since 1878.

“Since 1878, a solid tradition in the protection of creativity, innovations and intellectual property”.

This prestigious recognition is only given to the owners or the exclusive licensees of trademarks which have been registered for at least fifty years or for which it is possible to demonstrate the continuous use for at least fifty years, employed for the commercialisation of products or services made and provided in a firm noted for excellence, historically linked to the national territory.

The Historic Trademark is no intellectual property right, yet, it represents a valid branding tool: as a matter of fact, following the criteria defined by the Decree of the Ministry of Economic Development dated January 10th, 2020, the firms which fall under the Register are allowed to use, for commercial and promotional purposes, the logo:

Moreover, the registration in the Register brings economic advantages, too: the owners of Historic Trademarks can access the Fondo Salvaguardia Imprese, established by the then Ministry of Economic Development (as of today, Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy) to safeguard the occupational levels and the continuation of the business activity (in question).

The prestige associated with the Historic Trademark has inspired the recent establishment of the Association of Historic Trademarks of Italy, which Barzanò & Zanardo is a partner of, and whose purpose is “to promote the strategic importance of the Italian historic trademarks at all levels, and to give them a stimulus, also as an incentive for competitiveness and internationalisation of the country” (https://marchistorici.com ).
